The Grace of Giving
To express your gratitude to God and join in what He is doing. God is a lavish giver. The only reasonable response to such generosity is to share with others what God has so freely given us, joining with Him in changing lives and impacting eternity.
Why should I give?
How Much should I give? The answer to that question is between you and God. A tithe, or 10%, is often considered a benchmark for Biblical giving. However, the Bible does not say God owns 10% and the rest is ours; God owns everything and we are but stewards. The most important question you can ask yourself is am I becoming more generous with my time, talents, and treasure, or more selfish?
How are my gifts used at Riverside?Your giving envelope or online options will reflect four primary accounts we use at Riverside.
- Fuel for Ministry: This is our primary fund, used to support the mission and work of Riverside church locally.
- Fuel for Global Missions: Donations to this fund are used to support God's work world wide through the Great Commission Fund and other global outreach.
- 2012 Facility Projects: This is a capital fund used to finance major expenditures for our physical building and premises. It is used for things like remodeling, parking lot improvement and infrastructure needs.
- Care Ministries: This is a benevolence fund used to meet the needs of our local community and congregation when special circumstances arise where a financial helping hand allows us to extend His love.
Gifts may be given digitally at any time. You may also choose to bring tithes and offerings to our Sunday service, drop them off at our office window between the hours of 9-4 during the week, or to mail in your gift using one of our postage paid envelopes which can be picked up at the church.
Are there additional ways I can give?If you would like to donate stock or give non-cash assets, contact Director of Finance, Judy. If you would like to give of your time, check out the volunteer opportunities at Riverside.
Worth Remembering:YOU can't take it with you, but you can send it on ahead.
GOD owns everything. I'm His money manager.
MY HEART always goes where I put God's money.
HEAVEN, not earth, is my home.
GIVING is the only antidote to materialism.
GOD prospers me to not raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving.
